The Second Time I Broke My Arm
You would think after breaking my arm once I’d learn my lesson. Well apparently not for me. It happened this summer on a day awesome day, you know besides the breaking my arm part.
I was simply riding my bike around town with my friend Ayden. We decided to stop for a break at the Cap track and sat on the benches. When we decided to leave Ayden rode his bike down the stairs and I thought I’d be smart and take the ramp. I lost focus on the ramp and was starring off into the sky when all of a sudden I noticed a sign in my way so I slammed the front brake and took out the sign but more importantly my arm was bent into an s-shape. I slammed the front brake because the back brakes were out. I yelled to Ayden, “Dude my wrist is broke!” After calling my dad we called up a couple of friends and told them what had just happened and we laughed and made jokes. Once my dad arrived we called for an ambulance and they were there to help me in about 5 minutes. They put me in a sling and then my dad and I went to a hospital in San Francisco. All of this happened just about six weeks ago and I got my cast off two weeks ago.
It changed my thinking by making me fear the front brake on bikes. It also made me realize to always pay attention while riding my bike. I am probably going to take a bike safety class later in the year. Not being able to go outside all summer helped me realize a dream of being signed to a record label and I am going to pursue that dream.
Never use the front brake is an awesome piece of advice. Not really the front brake is actually very useful. Just always pay attention during everything you do. Paying attention will never get you in trouble or hurt. And always ride your bike with a friend; I say this because if I had not been with Ayden I would have been stuck on the floor a lot longer then I was with Ayden. I wouldn’t have been able to get my phone out of my pocket and would have had to wait for someone to call for me.
